So after waiting basically my entire life I finally got to see a live-action film version of The Hobbit last week--or, at least, the first part of a trilogy adaptation of The Hobbit--and overall I adore it. Really. It's a wonderful film.

I also found my watercolor paints and brushes and paper after having lost them all semester. This means, therefore, that I had to try my hand at painting again, and since I loved An Unexpected Journey, why not paint a little celebration of the movie? Here's Bilbo, Fili, and Kili. I've always loved Bilbo and Fili and Kili had a huge impact on me when I first read the book when I was five, so it was awesome seeing them portrayed onscreen, and very well too. And all three were so chummy, it was adorable.

I'd love to paint Gandalf and all the other Dwarves too to make one big happy group image but we'll see if I find the time.

Watercolor paints and india ink. I'm quite excited at how my painting skills have inexplicably improved without any practice, lol.

I'm still waiting seems like all of my young life, but I will see it soon! Maybe, can't see it with the people I want to see it with, but hey, maybe. Anyway, I love this picture, and your colors and lines here.

I'm just handling the wait by listening to the soundtrack on repeat, rereading the book many times, and making plushies. So basically I'm not handling it very well :D

Your Grandpa is not alone, but I'm glad he's a fan now! :D

I always loved Fili and Kili and I was really glad when they turned out to be smoking hot!
